Fluorescent mineral hunt
CANTON: St. Lawrence Rock & Mineral Club's Kids Fluorescent Mineral Hunt, at dusk about 8:30 p.m., Canton Pavilion, 90 Lincoln St.; club guarantees that samples of fluorescent minerals will be available for kids to find; admission to the hunt is free; each child (age 12 or younger) will be able to borrow a portable black light to use in the search; kids will be allowed to keep all the minerals that they find.
Back to school event
MADRID: A back to school event for students in pre K-12th grade will be held at Madrid-Waddington High School, 2-6 p.m.; will assist local families with school necessities such as clothing, backpacks, and supplies, and provide haircuts, access to needed resources, and information about the upcoming school year; free to all participating families; county sheriff's department will provide Safe Child ID assistance, as well as the opportunity for people to safely dispose of both controlled and non-controlled prescription drugs, and over-the-counter medications.
Natural history of wizarding
