WADDINGTON — The 45th annual Waddington Homecoming celebration will be held from Thursday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 8 with live music, a pet show, car show, vendors, food, bed races and more.
This year the theme is “Fantasy on the River” and will also feature a sand castle contest on Aug. 6, a parade on Aug. 7 and community picnic on Aug. 8.
The following is the complete schedule of events during homecoming weekend:
Thursday, Aug. 5
• 3-6 p.m., museum open house, town hall, discover how the seaway changed Waddington
• 7:30 p.m. , teen dance at the town hall.
Friday, Aug. 6
• 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., library book sale at Hepburn Library
• 10 a.m., pet show, Island View pavilion
• Noon, Teddy Bear picnic and ice cream sundaes at the town beach (donated by Shoen family)
• 1 p.m., Teddy Bear clinic at Waddington Health Center, bring own bear.
• 1 p.m., sand castle contest at the town beach
• 2-6 p.m., museum open house at the town hall, discover how the seaway changed Waddington
• 6 p.m., opening ceremonies at Island View
• 6:30-10:30 p.m., concert with Six Foot Midgets at Island View
Saturday, Aug. 7
• 8-10 a.m., breakfast, American Legion Post 420 on Fenton Street
• 5K Walk/Run, Island View pavilion
• 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., library book sale at Hepburn Library
• 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., craft show, Four Corners
• No octane go-karts, registration on Main Street, for ages 5-12, qualifying heats begin at 10 a.m.
• 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., car show at Island View Park
• 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., museum open house, town hall, discover how the seaway changed Waddington
• 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., garden art activity at Lake St. Lawrence
• 10 a.m., until 2 p.m. Chalk It Up Sidewalk Art, Island View pavilion
• 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., petting zoo, pony rides on west end of Island View Park.
• 11 a.m., Diaper Derby at Island View pavilion
• 11 a.m., chicken BBQ drive-thru style at fire hall
• 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., “That’s Entertainment” by Dawna and Bob Gazebo at Four Corners
• 12:30 until 2 p.m., music by Amy Mayette at Island View pavilion
• 2:30 p.m., bed races on Main Street; Mack’s Tavern
• 5 p.m., parade line up on Linden Street, parade starts at 6 p.m.
• 7 to 9:30 p.m., music by Northbound at Island View pavilion
• 7:30 p.m., raffle drawing
• Dusk, fireworks display by Majestic Fireworks
Sunday, Aug. 8
• 9 a.m., Ecumenical service, methodist church
• 11:30 a.m., community picnic at Waddington beach, donated by Seaway Smokehouse
• Noon to 3 p.m., DJ Scott LaBarge at the beach
