Waddington Concert Series runs through Aug. 26; polka band opens on July 1

WADDINGTON — This year’s Waddington Concert Series will kick off in July with a variety of free concerts planned for the summer at the community’s Island View Park Pavilion on Main Street.

The lineup:

• July 1, opening concert with Fritz’s Polka Band, sponsored by Sandstone Family & Cosmetic Dentistry

• July 8, The Blarney Rebel Band, premier performance. This group hails from the Celtic hotbed of CNY. Rousing renditions of all types of Irish music. Co-sponsored by The Badlam Family in Memory of Hy and Helen Badlam and Waddington True Value Building and Hardware Supply

• July 15, Alice Carr Memorial Dedication Concert, David Wells Band, co-sponsored by Alice Carr Memorial Fund, AC Bistro, Art’s Used Cars

• July 22, Double Axel with a 3-hour concert, sponsored by Seaway Trail Auto Sales/Car Wash and Premier Self-Storage

• July 29, The Bluebillies premier performance. Bluegrass, country and folk music with traditional style, sound and spirit. Husband and wife team Mark (vocals and bass guitar) and Melody G. Co-Sponsored by Waddington Blooms

• August 5: SFM. 4-hour concert/block-dance in conjunction with Waddington Homecoming. Co-sponsored by Dan Rose Memorial Golf Tournament, St. Lawrence Recreation, and The Waddington Homecoming Committee

• August 12: Runaway Home returns with quartet. Their good-for-the-soul, rootsy vibe caught the attention of Marcia Campbell of Nashville’s WSM Radio who said, “Runaway Home delivers a gem…” Sponsored by Laneuville’s Wine and Liquor Store and TBA

• August 19: Waydown Wailers premier performance. Blues, country rock to swamp Southern rock. Sponsored by Phillips Memorial Home

• August 26: Northbound. Fan favorite returns for closing concert. Sponsored by SeaComm Federal Credit Union

All concerts are free but donations are appreciated to help pay for future performances.
