Visit from Santa, tree lighting, village dance Dec. 6-8 to kick off holiday season in Waddington

WADDINGTON – A visit from Santa, cookie decorating, tree lighting and a village dance Dec. 6 and 7 will kick off the holiday season.

The holiday events begin Friday with a wine tasting from 4-7 p.m. at Border Life Wine and Spirits, 7 Main St. The Gallery at Lake St. Lawrence Arts will host an open house from 5-7 p.m. at 10 Main St., featuring refreshments and weaving artistry of Cait Throop. A tree lighting, fire, hot chocolate, refreshments, and music by local musicians will start at 6 p.m. at the Island View Pavilion.

On Saturday, Main Street will be blocked off with a fire pit in the center of the street. Local businesses will offer events, and there will be a competitive light show. A Christmas Tea will be held at the Waddington Hepburn Library from 1-3 p.m. A painted Christmas ornament class will be from 1-4 p.m. with $18 fee at The Gallery, 10 Main St. Brooke Backus and Colin McNamara will perform songs of the season from 2-4 p.m. at The Marketplace at Clark House.

Also on Saturday a free cookie decorating event will be held at Artworks Creperie from 2-4 p.m. Another cookie decorating class will be from 4-6 p.m. at Main Street Perc, 19 Main St. with a fee of $30 per person for 12 cookies and icing. A dance will take place in the town hall Saturday from 9 p.m.-midnight, with prizes for ugliest holiday sweater or finest holiday attire.

On Sunday, Santa will be at Artworks Creperie, from 9-11 a.m. Also, a kids’ cupcake frosting event will be held from 1-3 p.m. at Main Street Perc. for a $5 fee.
