OGDENSBURG – February is National Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDHM). The 1-2-3 SMILE Team, comprised of Oral Health Champions from Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Community Health Center of the North Country, SLC Public Health Dept., Stephens Media Group, American Mobile Dental, and SLC People Project, is encouraging all SLC children to develop good dental health habits by brushing their teeth at least twice a day for 20 seconds.

There is also a virtual 1-2-3 SMILE Coalition meeting Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m., to discuss the oral health crisis in St. Lawrence County and show how empowered change through collaboration and innovation to increase access to dental services for our community members.

Parents and guardians are also encouraged to work with their children to make brushing fun and a daily habit.

The 1-2-3 SMILE Team has a coloring and healthy brushing activity available for all SLC children to participate in throughout the month of February, where three winners will be chosen to receive a $25 gift card and Oral Health Champion Gift Basket.

For more information about the children’s brushing activity and the 123 SMILE Coalition Virtual Event, please contact Mary Hammond at (315) 713-5100 or mhammond@chmed.org.
