COLTON -- The Sunday Rock Legacy Project’s outdoor drive-in live theater presentations of "The Sparkley Clean Funeral Singers" will be held Thursday, Aug. 20 and Friday, Aug. 21, both at 7 p.m,; in a parking lot at the Colton-Pierrepont Amvets Post 262, 5082 State Highway 56.

A matinee will be performed Saturday, Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. in the AmVets back parking lot, off Route 56.

Elaine Kuracina and Jim Wildman will direct "The Sparkley Clean Funeral Singers," a musical comedy by Lori Fischer and Don Chaffer, licensed through Samuel French. The play features a quirky premise – two sisters who land a gig as funeral singers and sing songs written especially for each dead person – and includes blues, rock, and country tunes.

The cast has already begun rehearsing – socially distancing and wearing masks, reports SRLP. They include Frank Vaisey, Vania Falen, Emily Pelkey, and Jim Fryer. Crane School of Music student Joshua Barkley is the musical director. Wildman is the technical director (sound and lights), and his technical assistant is Cooper Sturtz, a recent graduate of Canton Central High School.

Reservations are required, and there will be a limited number of cars.

The tickets are $10 per person or $25 per vehicle.

Call 315-262-2617 for reservations. You will need to give your name and phone number/email address, the type of vehicle you will use, your license plate number, the number of individuals attending in your car and the preferred date you wish to attend. The drive-in live performances will meet all standards set by New York State for gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Audiences are expected to wear masks if they need to leave their cars for any reason.

Preparation for the SRLP annual Program and Historical Guide is also underway. Contributions that were made by all individuals, organizations, and businesses by Saturday, July 11, will be recognized in the 2020 Show Program & Historical Guide.

SRLP activities are made possible in part with funds from the state's Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, as administered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.
