POTSDAM – Tubas and euphoniums and other members of the great tuba family will gather at the United Methodist Church, 26 Market St., to play music of the season under the direction of Keith Ziemba on Sunday, Dec. 5 as part of the annual Merry Tuba Christmas.
Similar concerts will take place in over 250 cities throughout the U.S. and elsewhere, celebrating the noble instrument and the composers who have written for it.
Registration begins at 1:15 p.m., and rehearsal commences at 1:30 p.m.
The registration fee is $5.
Players must bring personal music stands or lyres. Bright, festive clothes, and horn decorations are encouraged. Limited supplies of the program music will be available for sale.
Players may obtain the music in advance directly from The Harvey Phillips Foundation via the website www.tubachristmas.com.
The public is invited to enjoy the concert in the warmth of the church sanctuary at 4 p.m. Admission is free, although donations will be accepted to support the Potsdam Holiday Fund.
There will be sing-along opportunities for many Christmas favorites.
Contact Ron Berry at 265-2883 with any questions.
Currently, there are only four concerts scheduled in the state: Potsdam, Albany, Binghamton, and New York City.
