Town of Hopkinton to hold public hearing on two proposed local laws

HOPKINTON -- The Town of Hopkinton will host a public hearing on two proposed local laws, Local Law 1 "Solar Law Systems Siting" and Local Law 2 "Opt Out of Tax Exemption Provisions, Real Property Tax Law Section 487," on Monday, June 29 at 7 p.m. at the municipal building, 7 Church St.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the meeting will also be provided to the public via Zoom.

Comments or concerns for the Town Board may be emailed to the Town Clerk or a request to speak via Zoom, with a 3-minute limit, may be emailed to the Town Clerk at townclerk@townofhopkinton.org no later than noon on June 29.

Local Law 1 is to plan for well sited solar projects to protect and promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community.

Local Law 2 is to allow the Town of Hopkinton to exercise its right to opt out of the Tax Exemption provisions of Real Property Tax Law Section 487 which provides a fifteen-year real property tax exemption on solar, wind and farm waste digestor electrical generation projects.
