CANTON -- TAUNY invites community members to enter their favorite baked goods in the TAUNY Cooks: No-County-Fair Baking Contest on Monday, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

With fairs and festivals around the North Country being canceled or postponed this summer, TAUNY decided to hold a baking contest inspired by the region’s wonderful county fairs and baking traditions.

Submissions can be made in the following categories: breads (quick or yeast), pies, cakes, cookies, muffins, and scones. Entries can be sweet or savory and must not require refrigeration.

To enter the contest, participants should drop off your entry, with a completed entry form (available to print at tauny.org) and your recipe, at The TAUNY Center on Monday, Aug. 10, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. (Entry forms and recipes can also be emailed to programs@tauny.org ahead of dropping off your entry.) There is no fee to enter. Judging will take place the same day. Winners will be announced Tuesday, August 11th.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes ($25, $15, and $10 TAUNY North Country Folkstore gift certificates) will be awarded in Young Adult (ages 10-18) and Adult (ages 19 and up) categories. Selected winning entries will be featured at the TAUNY Cooks Tasting Tent the following Friday, August 14th. Winners will be invited to attend and be featured at the event if they would like, and they will have the option to bake more of their winning recipe in the TAUNY kitchen for the tasting event.
