CANTON -- TAUNY invites the community to two upcoming TAUNY Cooks Tasting Tent events to try out some special samples on the sidewalk outside the TAUNY Center, 53 Main St.
“Rhubarb: Beyond Crisp” took place on Friday, July 10 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and “Simple Syrups” will take place on Friday, July 24 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Over the summer, TAUNY Kitchen Specialist Teresa Stone will set up on The TAUNY Center’s Main Street sidewalk for tastings to share some delicious samples inspired by North Country food traditions, and to invite visitors’ feedback on products she’s developing in the TAUNY Kitchen.
Tastings will happen on several Canton Farmer’s Market Fridays so participants can head over from the TAUNY Tasting Tent to pick up some local produce and try out the recipes at home.
Recipes will be provided, along with a list of Farmer’s Market offerings available that day.
Social distancing will be practiced and all precautions will be taken to keep everyone safe at these tasting events. Follow signage for how to participate and wear a mask except when tasting samples.
From chutney to sorbet, TAUNY Kitchen Specialist Teresa Stone will experiment with rhubarb in a range of tartly tantalizing recipes at the “Rhubarb: Beyond Crisp” Tasting Tent on July 10 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
At the “Simple Syrups” Tasting Tent on July 24 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., participants can try out a range of refreshing elixirs, made with fresh local produce and forageable ingredients, that can be added to spruce up your seltzer or cocktails, among other uses.
