HANNAWA FALLS – Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley’s new fundraising event this Summer, Swim a Mile for Hospice, is a non-competitive, open water swim on the Raquette River at Postwood Park in Hannawa Falls at 8 a.m. Aug. 7.
Participants will help Hospice provide end of life care for loved ones, friends and neighbors here in St. Lawrence County. Those interested should visit swimamileforhospice.com to learn more.
Participants will complete the swim at their own pace. Experienced swimmers will finish in about 30 minutes while others will take more than an hour, stopping to talk or tread water as they make their way around the course.
Prizes will be given to those swimmers and boaters who raise the most money in sponsorships.
Swimmers will be escorted around the course by paddlers and lifeguard patrol.
Anyone who would like to swim or join the safety patrol as a kayaker or canoeist can contact Hospice at 265-3105 to let him or her know.
