POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Humane Society hosts its third annual Strut Your Mutt 5k Poker Run/Walk at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28.
The event will benefit Howard, a 3-year-old beagle basset mix who is heartworm positive. Funds raised will help finance the treatment of this fatal disease.
The event will begin at the Humane Society’s Potsdam Animal Shelter at 17 Madrid Ave. with registration at 9:30. The walk will begin at 10 a.m.
After the walk, Humane Society staff will sell t-shirts and give out a variety of prizes, generously donated by various local stores.
The run/walks raised $500 in 2010 and $1,000 last year, so they are hoping to raise at least $1,500 this year.
People do not have to bring a dog to participate. Eligibility is by a pledge sheet or donation.
