St. Lawrence County nonprofit leaders, board members, and volunteers to receive training Oct. 22

CANTON – An afternoon training for St. Lawrence County nonprofit leaders, board members, and volunteers will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 3-5 p.m. at the Best Western University Inn.

The conference is hosted by the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and is designed to provide non-profits with resources, including donor trends, taxes, administering grant funds, social media strategy and more.

The conference will include a welcome by event sponsors Northern New York Community Foundation and St. Lawrence University, with presentations from local leaders to follow.

Laura Foster, director of the Remington Museum will present on Social Media Strategy for Non-Profits.

Max DelSignore, assistant director of Northern New York Community Foundation, Inc. will present on the Art of Stewardship and why stewardship creates stronger relationships, more funding opportunities, and the most meaningful stories to share in the community.

Angela Gray, partner with Gray & Gray and Associates CPA’s will discuss taxes and what’s new in 2019.

Diane Leonard, from DH Leonard Consulting and Grant Writing Services, LLC will provide advice and best practices for managing grant funds after a grant has been awarded.

Kelsey Rebmann, communications programs coordinator with the Better Bureau Business of Upstate New York will highlight the value of being a BBB certified charity and how that recognition can lead to more donors.

New this year, boards are invited to attend a happy hour networking session with board members and interested volunteers at the end of the conference.

The event is sponsored by the Northern New York Community Foundation and St. Lawrence University.

Admission costs $10 for SLC Chamber members and $15 for non-Chamber members.
