GOUVERNEUR -- A Spring Fling Bowling Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 14 at Gouverneur Bowl.

The contest is being sponsored by Lawrence Manor to benefit the Peck Awards Foundation for the preservation of the Northern New York High School Marching Bands.

Registration is $30 per team.

There are three divisions: Scotch Doubles 9-Pin No Tap consisting of teams of one male and one female bowler and Scotch Doubles consisting of teams of two men or two women. Shift times are 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The event is open to all adult bowlers.

For pre-registration before April 7, contact Carlton Peck at 869-1947 or sign up at your local bowling center. Registration the day of the event begins one hour before each shift and ends 15 minutes before the start of the shift.

The rules are as follows:

• Bowler (1) will bowl the first ball to start each game and Bowler (2) will bowl to pick up the pins left. If Bowler (1) bowls a strike on the first ball, Bowler (2) will bowl the first ball of the second frame and Bowler (1) will pick up the pins that are left. Play will continue this way throughout the game.

• Prize funds will be paid 100 percent in each Division.

• A bowler may place only once with the same partner.

The Peck Awards Foundation was founded in 2011. Carleton Peck and his family have been actively involved for many years with Band Day at the St. Lawrence County Fair. The purpose of the foundation is to continue the Band Day tradition and to provide further educational opportunities to area youth who participate in marching band.
