HEUVELTON -- There will be a “Spring in to Action” family walk Saturday, March 19 at Heuvelton Central School sponsored by the HCS Alumni Association.
The fundraiser aims to amass $25,000 to fund their BEST (Bringing Excellent Student and Teacher) Ideas Awards and senior awards. The BEST Idea Awards will be used to fund creative educational projects for the pre-K through 12th grade programs at HCS.
Teachers and students will have an opportunity to apply for funds to cover the cost of a creative idea or program they want to bring to HCS.
$250 in donations can establish a memorial award for a loved one. There are prizes for the following: the two youth organizations collecting the most donations will receive a $100 donation; the HCS senior who collects the most donations will receive the Gertrude and Howard Loucks School Spirit Award of $250; the adult group/alumni class collecting the most donations will receive four tickets to the HCS Alumni Reunion on Aug. 20.
The HCS Alumni Association will donate 100 percent of the money collected to the HCS students though the two types of awards. Additionally, 100 percent of the donations will be spent locally. All donations are tax deductible. Participants who collect $100 in donations and preregister by March 10 will receive a free t-shirt.
Participation forms can be picked up at Heuvelton Central School, Heuvelton Free Library, Heuvelton Town Hall, Heuvelton Post Office, Heuvelton Community Bank, www.heuvelton.schoolfusion.us or you can call 344-2498.
