GOUVERNEUR -- The St. Lawrence University Community Chorus, directed by Barry Torres, will present a concert of special music at The First United Methodist Church, across from the post office, on Wednesday, April 4, at 7 p.m.
The free concert will feature sacred works appropriate for Holy Week including the Mass in F by Franz Schubert, Let Nothing Ever Grieve Thee by Johannes Brahms, God So Loved the World by Sir John Stainer, and God Be in My Head by H. Walford Davies.
The St. Lawrence University Community Chorus includes students and community members from throughout the North Country, including Warren Powell from DeKalb Junction, and Dayle Burgess, Mark Lautenschlagger, and Don and Glenda Schuessler of Gouverneur.
In the 19th century, communities would gather to share in song, uniting in music that touched their souls.
The public is invited for an evening of encouragement, enjoyment, and camaraderie.
