Richville Library holding voting session on library computers in quest for $50,000 grant Feb. 18

RICHVILLE – The Richville Library is hosting a voting session from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday to get people on their computers to support the village in its quest for a $50,000 grant from the Reader’s Digest Foundation.

With 272,500 votes, Richville is in the 24th spot, about where they have been since last week.

That's still a long way from #1 Lake City, Iowa's tally, which is approaching 4 million votes, so the Richville Library hopes to give a boost to the village’s effort to earn money to get a new playground built.

But clearly, catching up is not impossible: last year’s grand prize winner, Grand Marais, Mich., attained 1,281,724 votes despite having a population of only 300, and the prize money is being used to repair the town’s damaged seawall.

Once they sign up, people can vote as many times as they like, from wherever they are.

People can participate by going to http://ReadersDigest.com/America, plugging in Richville’s Zip Code of 13681, and casting a vote as often as they like through March 1. Voters can upload photos and make comments.

There will be snacks at the library, and they encourage people to vote at the library or anywhere.
