April is Pet First Aid Awareness Month at the American Red Cross, and the American Red Cross of Northern New York will be hosting a Dog First Aid class 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 18 at the Potsdam branch office, 73 Market St.
Pre-registration is required. The cost is $45 for the first family member and $28 for each additional family member.
Participants will learn how to be prepared for emergencies that involve a dog and how to protect themselves and the animal from further harm, injury or suffering. The course will cover basic responsibilities from spaying/neutering and giving medications, to performing CPR, first aid and preparing for disasters, providing dog owners with the information they need to keep their dogs healthy and safe.
