POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Community Band is preparing for the summer season, with music-reading sessions scheduled for Sunday, March 20 from 2 – 5 p.m., Monday April 18 from 7 - 9:30 p.m. and Monday, May 2 from 7 - 9:30 p.m. in the Potsdam High School band room.
New and returning members are encouraged to attend. The sessions will be led by Potsdam High School band director Theresa Witmer, and the repertoire will include traditional wind band music, marches, and popular themes from stage and screen.
Membership is open to all adults who play traditional wind band instruments: woodwinds, brasswinds and percussion. High school-aged musicians may participate with a recommendation from their music teacher.
While no formal auditions will be required, seating will be assigned by appointed section leaders. Attending a reading session carries no obligation towards a summer commitment.
