POTSDAM -- Potsdam Community Band will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a concert on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 3 p.m. in Hosmer Hall at the State University of New York at Potsdam.
A Jan. 26 weather date is set if the concert this Sunday needs to be canceled.
Music will include popular pieces written by Gustov Holst, Percy Grainger, and Leroy Anderson, as well as marches by Henry Fillmore and R.B Hall.
Taking a turn away from standards, the concert will include the “Civil War Suite” by Harold Walters, a clarinet solo piece with band called “Twitch” by Nathan Daughtery featuring the talents of local school music teacher Jill Roberts.
The program will also feature “Symphonic Dances” from Fiddler on the Roof by Jerry Bock, and a Robert W. Smith selection known as the “Isle of Calypso” from The Odyssey (Symphony No. 2).
The concert will be presented under the batons of band conductors Paul Beull and Theresa Witmer.
Band members come from as far away as Star Lake and Malone.
