PorchFest to stage concerts in Potsdam and Canton

The St. Lawrence County Arts Council is hosting the Ives Park Concert Series and the second annual PorchFest throughout Potsdam and Canton Sept. 4 and 5.

The events are part of the new, month-long North Country Arts Festival sponsored by SLC Arts.

The Ives Park Concert Series kicks off Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. behind the Clarkson Inn An arts market will also be featured from noon to 8 p.m.

The Chipman Jazz Allstars will perform from noon to 1:30 p.m., followed by Uprooted from 2-3:30 p.m. Then, the Non-committals will play from 4.-5:30 p.m. and Sinclair will appear from 6 - 8 p.m.

Sinclair is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Potsdam who has played with numerous artists, including Daughtry, Kesha and Kacey Musgraves. She currently resides in Nashville, TN with her wife.

Over a dozen artists will take part in the arts market selling a variety of goods including chocolate, regional artwork and woodworking pieces.

The concert series continues Sept. 18 with the Crane Latin Ensemble at 6 p.m. SLC Arts plan to host another concert series in October and November.

Music can be heard up and down Chestnut St., Lawrence Ave. and Missouri Ave. during Potsdam PorchFest. On Saturday, Sept. 4 from noon to 5 p.m. from the following musicians: 3 Chestnut St. - Kevin Smith (12pm-2:30 p.m); Another Roadside Attraction (3pm-5pm); 16 Chestnut St. - Angus and Andrew LaMora (12pm-2pm); Caramelo Trio (2pm-3pm); 19 Chestnut St. - ROUST Vol. 5: The Kids of Kena (12pm-5pm); 20 Chestnut St. - The Raquettes (12pm-2pm); Church and State (2pm-4pm); 33 Chestnut St. - Clarinet Music and More (12pm-5pm); 8 Clinton St. - Jenna Clute (12pm-1:30pm); Jordan Cohen (2pm-5pm); 6 Lawrence Ave - Jaynie Trudell (12pm-2pm); Carriage House Quartet (2pm-3:30pm); 13 Lawrence Ave - The Darie Family, Featuring Mrs. Lorie Gruniesen (12pm-5pm); 14 Lawrence Ave - Full Spectrum Flutes (12pm-2pm); Sandy Steinberg and Kathy MacKay (2pm-5pm); 18 Lawrence Ave - Donald McNutt (12pm-2pm); Michael Tissaw (2pm-4pm); 8 Missouri Ave - Tom French (12pm-2:30pm); 14 Missouri Ave - Phoenix Jazz Collective (2:30pm-5pm)

In Canton, local musicians will perform Sunday at the following locations: 9 Jay St. - Chipman Jazz Allstars (12 p.m.-2:30 p.m.); Uprooted (3 p.m.-5 p.m.); 21 College St. - Jenna Clute (12 p.m.-1 p.m.); Kevin Smith (1 p.m.-2:3o p.m.); Jonny P and the Jazz Machine (2:30 p.m.-5 p.m.); 2 Elm St. - Another Roadside Attraction (12 p.m.-2 p.m.); Jaynie Trudell (2 p.m.-5 p.m.); 24 East Main St. - Lazo and Friends (12 p.m.-2 p.m.); Mike Brewster (2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.)
