The next Peak Moment broadcast Feb. 14 and 15, sponsored by The Center for Excellence in Communication at Clarkson University and the Seymour Family of Potsdam, has a conversation with Breigh Peterson, a permaculturist and the manager of Buckhorn Gardens, which includes a geodesic dome greenhouse and outdoor gardens at 6,000 feet above sea level.
In Colorado it's cold for much of the year, but inside dome greenhouse, the curving raised beds of vegetables and flowers are growing fine in the interplay of light and water, warmth and air, fish tanks moderating the temperature, and vertical trellises and shelves to use vertical space.
Outdoors a huge garden of row crops and a young orchard are complemented by free-roaming chickens and ducks. There is much more on-line at http://buckhorngardens.blogspot.com/
The Peak Moment programs run every week at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday on WCKN, Time Warner Channel 30. Peak Moment explores locally reliant living for challenging times.
