HEUVELTON -- Seventeen students from Canton, Heuvelton, Colton, Edwards-Knox, Ogdensburg, Parishville, Malone, and Rochester will perform during the Oswegatchie Youth Arts Program’s third annual musical theater workshop at Pickens Hall Opera House Aug. 17 and 18.
The students will present “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” during open dress rehearsals on Friday, Aug. 16 and Saturday Aug. 17 at 7 p.m., and during performances at 3 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18.
Two casts will perform a dress rehearsal and a performance, said a press release from the program.
Mollie Ladouceur from Heuvelton is the program director, Jonathan Stinson from Connecticut is music director, and Noelle Dutch from Ogdensburg is stage manager.
“The Bee” is a comedy about six awkward spelling champions who learn that winning (and losing) isn't everything.
Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’ has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor, the press release said.
