OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center offers an ostomy support group that generally meets on the third Thursday of every month at 2 p.m. in the physical therapy conference room.
The next meeting is May 16. The group is facilitated by Karen Cole, RN, BSN, and Shannon VanHouse, RN, certified wound ostomy continence nurses (CWOCN). CWOCNs are specially trained to assist patients with ostomy care both in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
The meetings are open to everyone with ostomies or even those contemplating one. We also welcome any interested family members or friends.
If you would like to speak with someone who has an ostomy, we have members who are willing to share their experience with you.
For questions or more information, contact Cole or VanHouse at 315-713-5181.
