Operation Christmas Child drop-off sites in Ogdensburg, Winthrop

OGDENSBURG — As the Thanksgiving season approaches, St. Lawrence County residents have the opportunity to give back to children in need around the world through Operation Christmas Child.

Shoebox gifts prepared by donors and filled with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies may be dropped off at locations in Ogdensburg and Winthrop now during National Collection Week until Nov. 21.

Local drop-off sites are:

• New Life Assembly of God, 929 Park St., Ogdensburg, on Friday, Nov. 18 from 4-6 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 19 from 1-3 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 20 from 12-3 p.m.; and Monday, Nov. 21 from 8-10 a.m.; and

• Victory Baptist Church, 601 State Highway 11C, Winthrop, on Friday, Nov. 18 from 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 20 from 12-3 p.m.; and Monday, Nov. 21 from 8-10 a.m.

Operation Christmas Child has been collecting and delivering shoebox gifts to children worldwide for nearly three decades.

In 2022, Operation Christmas Child hopes to collect enough shoeboxes to reach another 11 million children. More than 4,500 drop-off sites are now open. The Samaritan’s Purse project will collect its 200-millionth shoebox this year.
