OGDENSBURG, – The Frederic Remington Art Museum announces its participation in 2012 New York State Museum Week, May 31 – June 6, 2012.

During the week of May 31 – June 6, 2012 we are offering: Tours for Tots, Volunteer Appreciation/Meet & Greet, free reproduction prints, daily prize drawings, daily tours of the Museum at 11 a.m., 1pm and 3 p.m.

There will be a coloring contest in the Hirschey Gallery. All supplies will be on hand. There will be three age group winners announced at the end of the day Wednesday, June 6.

A Documentary Film Screening of Frederic Remington: The Truth of Other Days.

The screening will run from noon to 2 p.m. each day except Sunday, when it will be shown from 1 to 3 p.m.

Also, The Ogdensburg Parks and Recreation Department and the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber plan to host the first annual Maple City Arts Festival during NYS Museum Week in the Interpretive Corridor and in the parlors of the Administrative Offices at the Frederic Remington Art Museum. Enjoy the Arts Festival between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday June 2.

No admission cost is involved. You can expect to see works and products by Paulette Costigan, Tom Bruyere, Jennifer Pickman, Twisted by Choice by Debra Monteith, Fauna on Flora by Gary Chudzinski, and Just Imagine Jewelry by Valerie Matthews.

The St. Lawrence Carver’s Club is also planning a carving demonstration on the front porch. View the 2012 Members’ Juried Art Exhibit, opening May 12, 2 - 4 p.m. Receive a 10 percent discount on gift shop merchandise, and a chance to win a free family museum membership.
