Ogdensburg to celebrate Prohibition Era history with Bootlegger's Weekend

OGDENSBURG -- Bootlegger’s Weekend will be held Aug. 10 and 11 to celebrate Ogdensburg’s colorful history during the Prohibition Era when bootleggers ran illegal whiskey and rum across the St. Lawrence River from Canada to vehicles waiting at the end of Wall Street in Wheathouse Bay.

A variety of events are planned to be held in the city’s Marina District.

The Bootlegger's Weekend schedule includes:

Saturday, Aug. 10

11 a.m.-6 p.m., wine, beer, food, and vendors, Garns property;

12-4 p.m., K-Stone petting zoo, Garns property;

All day, city-wide garage sales; NYS Bass Federation Tournament, based at Dobisky Center;

TBA, 5K Race sponsored by Hosmer’s Marina on East River Street;

3-10 p.m., Pub crawl sponsored by 17 local pubs;

4-6 p.m., 10th Mountain Division Jazz Band, Garns property;

5:30-7:30 p.m., “Drag Race” at The Freighthouse;

7-11 p.m., karaoke contest at Ghize’s Bar;

6:30-9:30 p.m., The Shoes playing at Garns property;

9:30 p.m., Bootleggers Weekend fireworks spectacular.

Sunday, Aug. 11

NYS Bass Federation Tournament Finals, Hosmer’s Marina;

11 a.m.-4 p.m. Seaway Cruisers Classic Car Club, Lockwood Arena lot.
