MASSENA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will celebrate the season with its annual Summer Spectacular on Saturday, July 20, at the Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch.
Fun for the entire family kicks off at 10 a.m. with crafts projects for kids, bounce houses, an ice cream social, entertainment and fishing at the center’s handicapped-accessible fishing pier. All events are free and open to the public.
At 11 a.m. Jeff Boyer will present his Fun With Energy Show, an inventive mix of comedy, music and bubble technology.
From 11 a.m.-3 p.m. guests will be treated to ice cream novelties provided by Stewarts, enjoying panoramic views of NYPA’s St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project.
Throughout the day, NYPA will hold informational sessions on tower gardens, with information on “How to Grow Better, Eat Better and Feel Better.” The sessions will focus on vertical gardens with information on seeding, planting, growing, harvesting and cooking. Events wrap up at 4 p.m.
Guests are also invited to tour NYPA’s visitors center, with a wide range of interactive exhibits on electricity and NYPA’s very first hydroelectric power facility. The visitors center is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
