POTSDAM -- After a one-year absence, SUNY Potsdam volleyball head coach Steve Pike returns as volunteer coach of the NorthStars Volleyball Club, which will hold tryouts Sunday, Dec. 12, from 2-4 p.m. at SUNY Potsdam's Maxcy Hall.
The NorthStars club began in 2008-09 with a successful beginning training and a solid showing for both the 16- and 18-year-old teams at the Iroquois-Empire Volleyball Association (IREVA) Regional Tournament.
All interested girls born on or after Sept. 1, 1992, are welcome to try out, with all possible age groups open for teams. No volleyball experience is necessarily needed, and younger players are especially encouraged to try out.
Teams will practice 1-2 times per week and compete in one tournament per month in January, February and March. Girls playing a high school winter sport during this time are welcome to try out.
Contact Steve Pike at pikesm@potsdam.edu or club director Sue Mclean at smclean@ogdensburgk12.org for paperwork to participate in the tryout.
