Orchestra of Northern New York kicks off 25th anniversary concert season Oct. 27

POTSDAM -- The Orchestra of Northern New York will kick off its 25th Anniversary concert season Oct. 27 with Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, featuring the collaboration of the Potsdam Community Chorus and Northern Choral Society.

Orchestra Music Director Kenneth Andrews will conduct the 9th Symphony concert, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Hosmer Hall, SUNY Potsdam.

The annual musical holiday brunch will be held Sunday, Dec. 9 in the Barben rooms, Cheel Center, Clarkson University. Advance reservations are required. Live music and a silent auction will accompany the buffet.

The holiday celebration concert will be held 3 p.m. Dec. 16 at Hosmer Hall. It will include selections from the Nutcracker Suite, Babes in Toyland, and many other holiday favorites.

The James and Katherine Andrews Young Artist Instrumental Competition will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at Hosmer Hall. High school students are invited to compete. Cash prizes will be awarded and the winner will perform with the orchestra in March.

The annual Bach’s Lunch will be held Sunday, Feb. 10, with advance reservations required. The Greatest Baroque Hits concert will be held at St. Mary’s Church following the brunch.

A presentation of Peter and the Wolf will occur Saturday, Mar. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Hosmer Hall. The concert will also feature Williams’ Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban.

A spring concert featuring Bernstein’s West Side Story will be held Saturday, Apr. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Hosmer Hall. Copland’s Lincoln Portrait and Paul Siskind’s world premiere flute concerto will also be featured.

Last, the American Pops concert will be held Wednesday, Jul. 3 at 7 p.m. in Hosmer Hall. Songs will include Liberty Fanfare, the Battle Hymn of the Republic, Stars and Stripes Forever, and many more.
