NORFOLK – Friendly competition and skill sharpening are all a part of the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department’s firematics races and field day, Saturday, Sept. 4, at Firemen’s Park, Clinton Street.
Beginning at noon, firefighters will compete in events that simulate battling fires, such as laying hose, setting and climbing ladders, and hitting a target with the water stream.
A block dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Throughout the day, participants can enjoy the fishing pond, water slide, various card games, and a dunking booth.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, French fries, cotton candy and more will be sold.
