CANTON — The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and the Northern New York Community Foundation will once again host a Non-Profit Conference.

This year’s conference is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Best Western University Inn, 90 E. Main St.

This year’s conference, sponsored by the Northern New York Community Foundation, is encouraged for staff, directors, and volunteers of non-profit and not-for-profit organizations. The theme of the conference will be shared as a keynote address by Max DelSignore, Assistant Director of the Foundation. His address is titled “"Your Mission Matters: A Three "S" Plan to Ensure the Community Understands and Appreciates Your Organization (Storytelling, Sustainability, and Stewardship)."

Subsequent sessions will include "The Quest for the Grant: Sources, Tips and Tricks" presented by Felicia Neahr of North Country Grant Writing and Consulting; "Building a Sustainable Non-Profit Organization" presented by Jill Breit, Executive Director of Traditional Arts of Upstate New York; and "Effective Marketing Strategies for Non-Profits" presented by Brooke Rouse, Director of Tourism at the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, and small business owner.

“We’re thrilled to host the Non-Profit Conference again. This year’s program promises to provide invaluable strategies that non-profit leaders in the region can employ to build sustainability in their organizations and communicate their work to the community,” said Ben Dixon, the Chamber’s Executive Director, “It is also a great opportunity to interact with peers and form a stronger network in the non-profit world.”

Event proceedings will include networking with light refreshments. A $10 registration fee applies.

The 2023 Non-Profit Conference is part of the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce “Love Local” campaign, which encourages community members to show their love and support local businesses and organizations during February. Other Love Local programs have included promotion of gift cards and e-commerce, a business-to-business mixer, a webinar on promoting one’s business, and more. The Chamber’s Love Local campaign is sponsored by STLC Chamber Leadership Circle members NBT Bank and Alcoa.
