POTSDAM – The 2018 American film “Night Comes On” from director Jordana Spiro will be the next film featured at the Cinema 10 film series on March 25 at 7:15 p.m. at the Roxy Theater.

When Angel, portrayed by Dominique Fishback from “The Deuce” and “The Hate U Give,” is released from juvenile detention before her 18th birthday, she sets out with her 10-year-old sister to avenge their mother’s death.

“Night Comes On” marks the feature directorial debut of actress Jordana Spiro, from “Ozark” and “Dexter,” in a film David Rooney from The Hollywood Reporter calls “restrained, affecting and tenderly observed.”

Intense and compassionate, “Night Comes On” draws on electric performances from its young leads to deliver a story that “burns with a smoldering fire,” writes Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times.

The 86-minute film is not rated and contains some disturbing images and mature themes.

Cinema 10, the international and independent film series, aims to bring films to the area which are significant artistically, socially or politically, but which generally are not popular enough in the mass market to reach local theaters.

Films are shown at 7:15 p.m. Mondays at the Roxy Theater, 20 Main St.

Season tickets are $45 or $35 for students and senior citizens.

Individual tickets are $5.50 or $4.50 for students and seniors, available at the door.
