MASSENA – “Nature Nights” and a “Bat Night” are being offered by Nicandri Nature Center this summer.
• Nature Nights are being held July 23, August 6 and August 20. The center will be open after-hours from 5-8 p.m. with fun family activities, including campfire cooking, games and activities, turtle visits, and crafts.
• A new Bat Program is on July 28 from 8-9 p.m.
Program participants will help locate bats on the nature trails, and use bat detectors to identify the bat species flying overhead.
Participants will learn about how bats hunt at night with their echolocation calls.
Long pants, closed-toe shoes and long sleeves are suggested, as it will be dark and buggy. Meet at the front doors of the nature center at 8 p.m. for the start of the program.
Admission is free. Masks are required for non-vaccinated individuals and optional for others.
