Massena Public Library offering sewing and basketmaking classes, art show and movies

MASSENA – Sewing for beginners, a basket making class, juried art show, and Friday Afternoon at the Movies are among the Massena Public Library offerings in May.

Sewing 101 for beginners will be held Thursday, May 18, from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The free class will give instruction on how to use the sewing machine, then help make your own apron out of a men’s large or extra- large men’s shirt. To register call 315-769-9914.

The 2023 Massena Arts Association Annual Juried Art Show will open with a public reception and awards ceremony on May 20 at 11 a.m. The show features the works of artists living within a 100-mile radius of Massena.

A basket making class to make a sewing basket will be Tuesday, May 23, from 10 a.m.-finished. Cost is $30. With all materials supplied. No experience is needed. Call the library to register.

Friday Afternoon at the Movies will be Friday, May 26, at 1 p.m. This month’s movie will be “80 for Brady,” a 2023 comedy film starring Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field.
