MASSENA -- The Friends of the Nature Center at Robert Moses State Park will offer day camp programs for ages 5 – 12 during school vacation in April.
Programs will be held daily from 10 a.m. to noon at the NYPA Visitor’s Center at Hawkins Point.
Although the programs are free, pre-registration is required and the maximum class size is 15. For more information, call 315-705-5022 or email ncrebirth@yahoo.com.
The schedule:
• Monday, April 9: "Hairy Creations." Kids will learn all about natural fibers and different types of hair. They will make felted soap to take home.
• Tuesday, April 10: "Plant a Pizza." Kids will learn about gardening, make their own recycled plant pot and take home a pizza garden.
• Wednesday, April 11: "Project Flight." Kids will learn all about flight and experiment with assorted flying devices. They will each make a kite to take home.
• Thursday, April 12: "Busy Bees." Kids will learn all about honey bees and their importance from the fields to the grocery store. They will make rolled beeswax candles to take home.
• Friday, April 13: "Spring Discoveries." Kids will take a short hike to see what is changing in nature, who’s waking up, who’s having babies and what plants are changing. Kids will make an up-cycled decoupage vase to take home.
