MASSENA -- The Nicandri Nature Center will host free day camps during February break for youth age 5-9 and 10-13 from February 21-25.
Pre-registration is required and groups are limited to 10 participants. Sign up at https://signup.com/go/gcsEBsW .
A waiting list is available by calling (315) 705-5022. Registration is for the entire week.
There is no charge to attend day camps.
“Wonders of Winter” for ages 5-9 is held 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. each day. Campers will explore the winter world through outdoor activities and indoor nature lessons. Activities include snowshoeing, animal tracking, winter themed crafts, lessons on winter adaptations of our local wildlife, and cross-country skiing.
"Art of Conservation" for ages 10-13 is held 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Campers will learn about ecosystems and conservation using different forms of art each day. On the final day, they will have an art showing to display their work. Art lessons will include digital photography, drawing using the grid method, and use of recycled materials. There will also be time to ski and snowshoe.
The Nicandri Nature Center is funded by the New York Power Authority.
