Many opportunities for North Country artists this Fall at the Arts Council in Potsdam

Posted

The St. Lawrence County Arts Council has several opportunities for North Country artists coming up this fall, including the annual Artists’ Studio Tour in November and the Art Show and Sale in September.

Applications are available for artists who would like to show and sell their work during these events. The Council is also working on the fall schedule of classes and invites artists to offer classes in music, dance, art, and all areas of craftwork.

The 24th Annual Artists’ Studio Tour will be held on Nov. 5 and 6. Each year, it provides an opportunity for visitors to meet artists and experience the creative process firsthand, and for artists to show and sell some of their work. A full-color tour guide and map highlights the participating artists and their skills, so visitors can travel to studios throughout St. Lawrence County at their own pace. If you wish to be featured as an artist or site on the Artists’ Studio Tour submit a registration form with photo to the SLC Arts Council by July 30.

Visual artists and crafts people can participate in the juried Art Show and Sale in Canton from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. This show of high quality original artwork and handcrafts is part of Canton’s annual Remington Arts Festival, a celebration of arts excellence in the North Country. Artists are asked to submit photos of their work for review with their application by Friday, Sept. 9.

The Council also seeks teachers for their fall class schedule. They welcome proposals for classes in all arts mediums for any age range. Artists who can teach dance for all ages, visual arts for kids, and music classes are especially sought. Class proposals are reviewed by the SLC Arts Council Program Coordinator, Beth Robinson.

If you would like to request an application for the Artists’ Studio Tour or Art Show and Sale, or would like to submit a class proposal, contact the Arts Council at 265-6860 or visit www.slcartscouncil.org.
