POTSDAM -- Zach Wahls, who argued in favor of same-sex marriage at age 19 before the Iowa House of Representatives, will present "What Makes A Family" 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 11 in Clarkson University's new Student Center second floor multi-purpose rooms,
After the video of his testimony went viral, Wahls made many presentations around the country about his “boring” experience growing up with two lesbian mothers and why the struggle for lesbian-gay-bisexual-transexual rights is important.
Wahls continues to work with LGBT rights groups and on protecting and advancing those rights at home in Iowa. He is currently program coordinator for the Iowa City chapter of Summer of Solutions, whose website is www.iowacitysos.org. He also operates a small business, Iowa City Learns.
Recently, the website Salon named Wahls as the #2 sexiest man on its counter-list to People magazine’s "Sexiest Men" list. Salon defined sexy in terms of qualities like principles, cultural contributions, talent and old-fashioned charm.
The event at Clarkson is co-sponsored by SPECTRUM and Student Life & Engagement. For more information, contact Vicki Clark at 268-3785.
