Lion's Club Lumberjack Show and Woodsmen day in Ogdensburg looking for vendors

OGDENSBURG – There’s still room for more vendors at the second annual Lion’s Club Lumberjack Show and Woodsmen day, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Burt and Delberta Carr’s field on the Cline Road, just off Rt. 68 near Ruby’s Roadside Grill.

Spaces are $10 for small vendors, and $25 for commercial retail vendors.

Show organizer, Rhonda Roethel, says the Woodsmen’s Team from Paul Smith’s College will again be putting on three, one-hour shows at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.

The team will compete in cross cut & bow sawing, chain saw racing, underhand ax chopping, speed splitting, axe throwing, pole climbing, and peavey log rolling.

“Last year was our first year for the show, and the team put on a great performance for the crowd,” said Roethel. “This year they’ve added pole climbing and peavey log rolling into the mix so the show should be even better. We’re also adding hot chain saw racing with the North Country Chainsaw Racers, made up of men from all over the state.”

Along with these main events, attendees may want to try their hand at challenges such as a nail pounding contest for all ages, kids field races, and a women’s skillet tossing competition.

Attendees can also get a temporary tattoo, take a horse drawn wagon ride, or check out the vendors displaying everything from crafts to four wheelers.

The Seaway Valley Cruisers will be on hand to show off their classic cars, and there will also be a display of antique tractors.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for kids 12 and under, and kids 5 and under are free.

Call 393-0439 for more information. The show is sponsored by the Ogdensburg, Heuvelton, and Lisbon Lion’s Clubs.
