CANTON -- The Patricia Carson Harrington Brown Bag Lunch will feature Daniel Szafran of Canton, who will share a piece of his history on the Holocaust through the eyes of a survivor, Thursday, Jan. 16, at noon, at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association (SLCHA), 3 E. Main St., Canton.
Szafran was born in 1927 in a ghetto in Stryków, Poland, where he, his parents, plus four brothers and three sisters spent the beginning of World War II before being forced out in the late 1930s.
Although he was taken to Auschwitz to join the death march to Germany, he escaped and eventually immigrated to the United States.
The SLCHA is open Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
