COLTON -- A cast and crew from the Grasse River Players will present George M. Cohan’s musical melodrama mystery spoof “The Tavern” on July 18, 19, and 21 during the town’s annual week-long Colton Country Days celebration, said a press release from the Sunday Rock Legacy Project, the group that organizes the event.

The Colton Country Days 2019 theme — Rockin’ in the Great South Woods — focuses on history in the southern part of town where places like the Windfall House used to be stopping off points along the road and destinations for Adirondack adventures.

“The Tavern” productions will take place in the newly renovated CPCS Auditorium at 7 p.m. on July 18 and 19 and at 2 p.m. on July 21. The Canton Goldenaires will perform during special appearances before and during the three shows.

The theater is handicapped accessible and air-conditioned.

Tickets are now available at the The TAUNY Center on Main Street in Canton and Brick & Mortar Music on Market Street in Potsdam. They also will be available in the Colton Museum on Main Street starting July 1 when it opens for the season.

Ticket prices are general admission $10, and students $5 each. Tickets are open for any of the three shows and for any seat in the house.

Those attending the Potsdam Summer Festival on Saturday, July 13 can get in on a special advance deal. At 3 p.m. on Market Street, during a preview of the show by the cast, anyone buying a 2019 commemorative show shirt can get a ticket for half price.

The Grasse River Player regulars starring in the show are Morgan Hastings, Jennifer Blewett, Barbara Burdick, David Crowell, Derrick Conway, Esther Katz, Art Johnson, Chris Coughlin, and Logan Barkley.

Debuting in this SRLP production are Emily Fecketter, Jacob McNamara, and John Berbrich.

Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets at a group rate of $8 each at the Colton Town Museum or by calling Scott Muller at 315-244-9956.

This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.
