CANTON – The Goldenaires Barbershop Chorus is gearing up to deliver singing Valentines on Friday, Feb. 14 as part of the Canton Winterfest, said a press release from the group.
For $40, a singing valentine will be delivered on Friday, Feb. 14, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Last year three quartets covered St. Lawrence County, said the press release, delivering more than 40 singing Valentines.
All money collected goes toward awards to college-bound seniors who apply.
Award applications will be available at all St. Lawrence County schools. Last year four awards of $400 each were presented to Zana Northrop of Clifton-Fine, Spencer Beckstead of Massena, Elizabeth Peo of Ogdensburg, and Joey Lashomb of Potsdam. Seventeen seniors applied for the cash award, the press release said.
To order a “singing Valentine,” talk to a Goldenaires member or call or text Vicki at 315-379-9848 or 315-261-9828 to give your delivery details.
The Goldenaires are always looking for new voices to join the chorus. Interested singers can stop in to visit a session or two at the United Helpers Independent Living Facility on Sullivan Drive in Canton every Monday night from 7:30-9:30 p.m., the press release said.
