CANTON — The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office will host civilian firearms safety courses on Tuesday Aug. 24 and Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 5 to 9 p.m.
The safety course is four hours long and will satisfy St. Lawrence County Court's requirements for pistol permit licensing. It includes information such as civilian use of force, the pistol license, care and safety of firearms as well as several other topics.
To register, go to the County Clerk’s Office at 48 Court Street, Canton.
The cost of the course is $30 and is payable by money order or check only at the County Clerk's Office at the time of registration.
Phone registrations will not be accepted. People will receive information at the time of registration regarding parking and other requirements.
Pre-registration is required. Additional classes may be scheduled based on need.
