OGDENSBURG — The Frederic Remington Art Museum’s newest exhibition, Gregory Fedchak: The Paintings, A Retrospective, will open on Friday, Sept. 24.

The exhibition, which presents 66 paintings by Boonville artist Gregory Fedchak, will be on display in the Museum’s Hirschey Family Gallery, Richard E. Winter Gallery, and the Torrey Family Gallery, and online at www.fredericremington.org.

The public is invited to attend a special virtual opening reception, which will take place via Zoom at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24.

The reception offers an opportunity to meet the artist, hear more about his work, and view the entire selection of paintings in the show.

If you would like to attend the virtual reception, please email info@fredericremington.org for a digital invitation. Everyone is welcome.

Fedchak’s superb abstract paintings have been a feature of the Remington Museum’s annual juried art exhibits since his participation in the 2003 International Juried Art Exhibit. By 2013, he served as the juror for the Museum’s Members’ Juried Art Exhibition, a tribute to the quality of his own work. Gregg and his wife, Elaine, built relationships with the Museum, its staff, and with other artists who participated in the Museum’s exhibits.

When undertaking their estate planning, the Fedchaks wanted to make a transformational gift to the Museum, said a press release from the museum. They named the Remington Museum the primary beneficiary of their estates, and donated Gregg’s art for resale. Accordingly, almost the entire collection of work included in the exhibit is available for purchase by collectors, the proceeds to benefit the Museum. Four paintings will be retained by the Museum, to be displayed on a rotating basis to honor the Fedchaks.

“Gregory Fedchak: The Paintings, A Retrospective is not just an exhibition of one artist’s work, but it’s a celebration of a couple and their transformational and inspirational generosity,” says Remington Museum Executive Director Lora Nadolski. “Gregg and Elaine hope to inspire other artists and members of the community to think creatively about how they can support the Museum that means so much to them.”

In conjunction with the exhibition, the Museum has published a catalog of the retrospective. Copies of the catalog will be available in the Museum’s shop.
