Ecovillages, discussed by Brandy Gallagher from British Columbia, is the topic of the next Peak Moment program with host Janaia Donaldson at 7 p.m. April 9 and 10 on WCKN, cable channel 30.

This show updates show 84: Creating the Impossible - O.U.R. Ecovillage from 2006 when the O.U.R. Ecovillage was just getting off the ground.

From their “Zero Mile Meal Eatery” to zoning and financing innovations, O.U.R. (One United Resource ) Ecovillage has paved the way for many communities worldwide. For Gallagher, the story on the planet right now could be a shared ethos of caring: “Everyone is fed. Everyone is taken care of.”

Asserting that “No is just an uneducated Yes,” Gallagher shows how a village mindset can transform individuals, preserve land, reduce resource use, apply permaculture principles, change laws, and even the way money works. There is more on this at www.ourecovillage.org.

She says that 7,700 people came through the Ecovillage in the last 12 months, from all over the world. So people from very diverse cultures and ways of seeing the world are “united in the notion that people really want to create a transformational shift” though hands on natural building, gardening, and permaculture courses.
