OGDENSBURG — Hoping to keep tradition alive in Ogdensburg, a Thanksgiving craft show, fireworks and a parade are planned Nov. 19 at Ogdensburg Free Academy.

The Craft Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 19 at the school and will be followed by the Lion’s Club Light up the Night Parade which will run down State Street to Library Park and close with a fireworks display that co-organizer Chris Lalone says will rival the Seaway Festival.

“We are trying to keep a tradition going. It’s the event that kicks off Ogdensburg’s Holiday Season,” co-organizer Laurel Lee Roethel said.

The event will include a 50/50 raffle and giveaways not only for customers but also for vendors. He said there will also be loyalty discounts for vendors, which means any vendors that attend this year will receive a discount for next year.

The Ogdensburg Booster club will provide concessions.

Lalone says he hopes to have 100 vendors and currently has more than 50 signed up.

Lalone says the event is being held to do something for the community and in particular for the children.

Lalone says this year’s craft show will be more centralized, using only the two gyms and the main hallway by the cafeteria, to cut down on walking and confusion at prior events.

Lalone says various sponsors are helping to fund the event, including the Ogdensburg Seaway Fesitval, Frederic Remington Art Museum, City of Ogdensburg, Pepsi, St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union, Busters, Community Bank and Stonefence. Anyone interested in donating to the event can contact Chris Lalone at 315-229-8297.

Those interested in participating in the craft fair can contact Michelle Morrison at 315-528-0332. To enter a float in the parade contact LaureLee Roethel 315-393-4770.
