POTSDAM – Community Performance Series is pleased to present Baroque ensemble REBEL for a single performance Saturday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hosmer Concert Hall at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam.

REBEL (pronounced "Re-BEL") has been hailed by the New York Times as "sophisticated and beguiling" and is widely regarded as one of America's premiere ensembles specializing in 17th- and 18th-century repertoire.

Praised for their unique style and highly provocative approach to the Baroque and Classical repertoire, REBEL musicians perform on period instruments comprised of two violins, recorder/traverse, cello/viola da gamba and harpsichord.

REBEL will also conduct a master class on Saturday, Oct. 16 from 10:30 a.m. to noon in Hosmer Hall. Participation is open to all SUNY Potsdam students and the workshop will be open to the public for viewing. The master class will be taught by Jörg-Michael Schwarz and Karen Marie Marmer on Baroque violin and viola, as well as John Moran on period cello and Dongsok Shin on harpsichord and organ.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting the CPS Box Office, located in the lobby of the Snell Music Theater, SUNY Potsdam, or Northern Music & Video in downtown Potsdam. Tickets start at $11 for youth, $17 for seniors and students, and $19 for adults. Tickets are available by calling the CPS Box Office at 267-2277 or by purchasing online at www.cpspotsdam.org.
