Community Overdose Prevention & Narcan Training sessions planned all around St. Lawrence County

A series of Community Overdose Prevention & Narcan Training sessions are scheduled to be held at various locations around the county.

The training, hosted by SLC Partners 4 Substance Use Prevention, is for adults and children grade 6 and older with a guardian.

Participants will learn: How overdoses happen, risk factors for opioid overdoses, how to administer Narcan nasal spray.

Narcan (naloxone) has been fundamental in the effort to decrease rates of fatal opioid overdoses, said a press release from the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department.

Participants will receive a free Narcan rescue kit after completing the training.

Aug. 5 -- Reading Room Association of Gouverneur, 6 p.m.

Aug. 8 -- Badenhausen Branch Library, Brasher Falls, 6 p.m.

Aug. 12 -- Canton Free Library, 6 p.m.

Aug. 14 -- Hepburn Library of Norfolk, 6 p.m.

Aug. 19 -- Colton Colton Fire Department, 2nd floor, 6 p.m.

Aug. 21 -- Hopkinton Town Hall, 6 p.m.

Aug. 26 -- Hammond Free Library, 6 p.m.

Aug. 28 -- Rensselaer Falls Fire Hall, 6 p.m.
