Cognitive behavioral technique workshop in Potsdam June 7

POTSDAM-- Those curious about using cognitive behavioral techniques to get more accomplished and be more efficient at work are invited to attend a workshop held by licensed health counselor and behavioral neurobiologist Alisa Woods at Anchorspace Potsdam on Friday, June 7 at 3 p.m.

“Cognitive behavioral techniques (CBT) are methods, backed by extensive research, that can help you personally or professionally,” said Woods. “CBT involves identifying automatic negative thoughts and replacing them with more realistic thoughts and effective behaviors.”

This introductory class will introduce participants to methods for challenging the negative thoughts that they may not even be aware that they are having.

The workshop will include a description of common “cognitive distortions,” writing exercises, case studies, discussion, and examples of techniques that participants can take home and use right away.

The professional development workshops at Anchorspace Potsdam are offered monthly and focus on the skills and information that all individuals need to succeed through engaging, affordable, and local learning opportunities.

The workshops are free for Anchorspace members and cost $25/person to the general public. All participants receive access to the recorded course after the workshop for additional review.

There also is a networking ‘happy hour’ after, encouraging people to not only learn new skills but meet one another.
